From Rune Singer's Village to Möhkö Ironworks
Karelian cultural features come together in Parppeinvaara’s Rune Singer's Village: kantele music, handicraft, the Orthodoxy as well as traditional food. Guided tour in the Rune Singer's Village include an introduction to the Karelian way of life and construction culture, mesmerising kantele compositions and tales of the rune singers of Ilomantsi. War history is an intrinsic part of Ilomantsi’s recent history and at the Mesikkä Animal Museum, one can immerse themselves in the relationship between human and nature.
The excursion continues to the Möhkö Ironworks where the guide will tell you about Möhkö’s iron era, war history and the history of forest work. If so agreed, the guide will also introduce the grounds of the ironworks, workshop and old ruins of the blast furnace to the visitors.
The program includes a buffet lunch and coffee with sweet pastry. Also our Museumshops Parppeinpuoti and Ruukinpuoti are open and ready to serve you.
